The state of Rhode Island takes sex crimes very seriously. Sex trafficking is taken even more seriously and in a recent report an East Providence man has been arrested for bringing two minor across state lines from Rhode Island to Massachusetts to a motel for prostitution. The subject in question is Reginald Chaney (22) who plead guilty on Tuesday at the Providence Federal Court for charges of Sex Trafficking.
The two victims, in this case, were minors, young girls aged 15 and 16 who reported having been held against their will as they were moved all over Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Chaney is said to have forced them to have sex with people, keep them against their will and use a taser on them. After Chaney was arrested a taser was found after a search of Chaney’s hotel room. The advertisements for the services Chaney offered were listed on popular website Backpage (think dark dark craigslist.org) the same site has been linked to issues with sex trafficking events in the past.
Chaney will serve the mandatory minimum sentence of ten years for sex trafficking and will be required to register as a sex offender when he is released from prison.
